Payment does cover 2 seats in this class, one for mom and one for her partner/guest.&nbsp;<br></p><p>The goal of Beaumont’s Natural Birth Workshop is to provide you and your support person with an introduction to the knowledge and skills that may help you have a natural birth experience. The workshop will increase your confidence and assist you in developing a personal plan for your baby’s birth. </p><p> The goal of the workshop is to help you work with your body to increase comfort, enhance the birth process, and decrease or eliminate the need for pain medications. During the workshop, we will focus on natural techniques for labor and birth. Immediate post birth mother and baby care and initial breastfeeding information will also be covered. We suggest you take <a href="https://beaumonthealth.digitalsignup.com/Class/173-understanding-birth---beaumont-hospital-g" target="_blank">Understanding Breastfeeding</a> and <a href="https://beaumonthealth.digitalsignup.com/Class/208-understanding-your-newborn---beaumont-hos" target="_blank">Understanding Your Newborn</a> to further enhance your knowledge in these areas. </p><p> This is a “hands-on”, active class where we will practice positioning, breathing for labor and birth, and learn a variety of comfort measures including ways to handle labor challenges. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. </p><p> You will receive a natural birth book and a web-based resource for enhanced learning and review. We encourage further study and practicing the skills learned in the workshop as an on-going part of your birth preparation. </p><p> The workshop is taught by a registered nurse/ childbirth educator. You and your support person should attend the class together. You can take this series anytime after your 6th month of pregnancy. Plan to complete your birthing classes four to six weeks before your delivery date.
