Participate in a virtual, LIVE, question and answer session with an RN, childbirth educator to learn about the Beaumont Birthing Experience. Discussion will cover what to expect from the time you arrive at the hospital until your discharge home. Your questions might relate to your hospital stay, clarification of class offerings, or resources available for pregnant individuals and their partner. Obtain answers to those "Burning Questions' from a nurse who works for Beaumont Health

This session is NOT meant to substitute for a childbirth class.

Beaumont's virtual Natural Birth class is taught by a registered nurse childbirth educator using Microsoft Teams. The goal of the class is to help you work with your body to increase comfort, enhance the birth process, decrease or eliminate the need for pain medications, increase your confidence, and assist you in developing a personal plan for your baby's birth. During the virtual class, we will focus on natural comfort techniques for labor and birth, normal newborn care after birth, and postpartum recovery. Classes run three weeknights, two consecutive Saturdays, or a Saturday/Sunday option.

When registering please use the pregnant parents' name. Payment does cover 2 seats in this class, one for the pregnant parent and one for the partner/guest. After your registration is complete you will receive a Team meeting invitation that will arrive to your email mailbox the day before or day of your class start date.  Please check your spam and trash mailboxes. The educational materials will be mailed to the address listed in your registration.

You and your support person should attend the virtual class together. You can take this series any time after your 6th month of pregnancy. Please plan to complete your birthing classes four to six weeks before your due date.

In this free video series, you'll learn about different comfort techniques and positions for labor and delivery. They will help you and your support person better understand how labor works, and what you can do to make it a more comfortable experience on your special day. Topics include:

For your convenience, Beaumont offers you this online Understanding Birth Independent Study program. The Web-based independent study covers the same material as our Understanding Birth Classes without attending a class.

This program is appropriate for first-time parents or parents who have experienced a birth before and are looking for a refresher. Expectant parents who have already had a cesarean birth and want to attempt a vaginal birth with this pregnancy (VBAC), will also find this online education program useful.

Upon your paid registration, you will receive a workbook and PIN number to access the childbirth education Web site. You have access to the Web site for 18 months. The materials will be sent through the mail and can take up to seven business days to arrive. Once mailed there are no refunds for this class.

This comprehensive childbirth class teaches expectant parents about labor, birth, and postpartum recovery. Our class incorporates Lamaze techniques, including breathing, relaxation, and positioning. This shortened, condensed childbirth class teaches expectant parents about labor, birth, medical interventions, medical pain relief, and cesarean birth. We will not cover Natural Comfort Measures, New Procedures, or Postpartum Recovery. However, this information will be provided in your Understanding Birth book and web app. The class is taught by a registered nurse, perinatal patient educator using Microsoft Teams. Understanding Birth Express is recommended for families wanting labor and medical intervention information only, including expectant parents who want a refresher on information following a prior birth.

When registering please use the pregnant parents' name. Payment does cover 2 seats in this class, one for the pregnant parent and one for the partner/guest. This class is for families that have already given birth and have a newborn from birth to 8 weeks old.

Congratulations on your new baby! We would love to help you and your partner make the transition from pregnancy and birth to parenthood. 

During this virtual class, we will talk about your adjustment to parenthood and cover the following topics:

    • Newborn sleep
    • Newborn feeding
    • Newborn soothing techniques
    • A brief introduction to infant massage
    • Postpartum adjustment
    • Warning signs for the birth parent and baby
    • Resources and tools for new parents

If attending as a family, please register just once using one parents name.
